Ratan Tata would like to see Jaguar return to Le Mans someday, and seeing as he owns the British marque's new parent company, he probably has a lot of say in the matter. Tata expressed his wishes at his company's annual meeting at the end of July, but jag aficionados shouldn't get their hopes up just yet. There's no timetable attached, and when asked for further clarification, a Tata rep told Endurance-Info.com that nothing has been finalized. Jaguar and Le Mans were synonymous in the 50s, when it won the race outright 5 times between 1951 and '57 with its C- and D-Type racers. It later returned to the top of the podium in 1988 and 1990 with the XJR-9LM and XJR-12, respectively. It would be great to see the cat return with a factory effort in one of the prototype classes.

スーパーGTの昨年のチャンピオンで、今季はチームルマンからENEOS SC430を駆る伊藤大輔が、DVDの収録中に負傷する事故が発生し、頭蓋骨骨折、脳挫傷を負っていたことが分かった。
　チームルマンと伊藤大輔のホームページでの発表によれば、11日に群馬県の群馬サイクルスポーツセンターで行なわれていたビデオマガジン『ホットバージョン』の収録中に事故が発生、伊藤は頭蓋骨骨折、脳挫傷を負ったという。本人はただちに病院に搬送され、診断の結果全治2ヶ月と診断されたとのこと。
　伊藤本人のホームページには、妻のひろみさんの名で「軽症とは言えない状態ですが、現在は確実に回復へと向かっております。復帰の見込みが立ち次第、本人よりお知らせできればと思っております」とファンに向けてメッセージが出されている。
　しばらく伊藤はレース復帰に向け回復に努めることになるが、7月26日〜27日に迫ったスーパーGT第5戦SUGOに向けてチームルマンでは、今季DENSO DUNLOP SARD SC430の監督を務めている飯田章をドライバーとして迎えることとなった。第6戦では飯田、ビヨン・ビルドハイム、それに加えてもう1名の起用に向けて現在調整中としている。

『ホットバージョン』を制作していた2&4モータリング社は、今回の件について自社HPで「関係各位並びにファンの皆様、そして読者の皆様に多大な御迷惑、御心配をおかけいたしましたこと、心から深くお詫び申し上げます。日ごろから、安全管理につきましては十分注意してまいりましたが、自動車専門媒体としてあってはならない事態を引き起こしてしまったことを深く反省し、今後は二度とこのような事故を起こすことのないよう、さらに安全管理の徹底に努めてまいります」とコメントしている。
　伊藤のホームページには、「ファンの皆様にもご心配をおかけしましたが、今は伊藤の回復を見守っていただけたら幸いです」とひろみさんからのメッセージが記されている。今は伊藤の1日も早い回復を祈るばかりだ。

無事なのは何よりですが･･･

FIA臨時総会までの間に票を取りまとめたのか!?

Max Mosley will remain FIA president, after achieving a clear win in the secret confidence ballot conducted in Paris on Tuesday.
A statement issued by the locally-based body revealed that, of the 169 votes cast, 103 expressed confidence in the 68-year-old, who has been embroiled in a highly controversial scandal following a media expose about his private sex life.
55 votes were against the motion, while the final 11 were abstentions or invalid, the FIA added.
Mosley, who has already stated that he will not seek re-election when his current term ends next year, now faces a battle to regain credibility. His court case against the News of the World on invasion of privacy is expected to be heard in July.

Citroen Sport boss Olivier Quesnel has hinted at a possible WRC withdrawal for his French team if things don’t improve drastically over at WRC. Quesnel was referring to the fact that he thinks WRC is not promoted as well as the DTM series, with which he was extremely impressed.

"I went to Hockenheim,” he said, “to look at the DTM race and the promotion of that series is on another planet compared to the WRC.
"Citroen gave me the budget and I have to use it in the best possible way. We have a new car, the C5, which is in the market with the Audi A4 and the Mercedes C-class, so we have to look at things."
Quesnel reckons DTM gives automakers much better value for money than WRC as far as marketing and selling their cars goes. Beyond 2009 the Citroen participation in WRC is up in the air. Quesnel may have a point. Motorsports that are promoted much better than others include F1, NASCAR and DTM, as well as Dakar Series and Le Mans. WRC is seen as a sort of paradox; a series where lots of off-road driving takes place, and yet vehicles used are not off-road SUVs, with the result that often customers get confused by saloon 4WD cars that they themselves can’t drive on the same tracks as the likes of Sebastian Loeb.
Speaking of Loeb, Citroen has to consider the career of their ultra-successful driver, whose contract is up at the end of the 2009 season.
"If we are quite sure the WRC is a good idea then we can make the investment in the new car," said Quesnel. "But we are not here to race for the sake of the race. We are here to sell cars.
"I was happy to be in Jordan, but where were the spectators? We don't sell enough cars there - we need to be in China. If there is no promotion in WRC, it doesn't matter that the costs are becoming less and less."

たしかにNewC5はジャーマン風のルックスだし、WRCでこれだけ強くてもプロモーション的に微妙だし･･･
ローブとの契約も2009年までということも公になっているし･･･

　ドイツ企業からの支援で、Ｆ１世界選手権への継続参戦を目指しているスーパーアグリＦ１チーム（鈴木亜久里代表）に活動停止の可能性が出てきた。

　同チームは６日に東京で記者会見し、状況を説明する。
　同チームは第５戦トルコＧＰ（１１日決勝）が行われるイスタンブール・サーキットでピット区域への入場が差し止められている。チーム側の説明では、Ｆ１興行面を統括するバーニー・エクレストン・Ｆ１マネジメント代表から「支援計画をホンダが承認したとの確認が取れるまでは、入場は出来ない」と通告されたという。
　同チームは３日にドイツの自動車関連企業、バイグル・グループが株式の相当部分を買収する契約がほぼ合意に達した、と発表した。契約調印にはエンジンなどを供給するホンダの合意が必要だが、ホンダＦ１チームのニック・フライ最高経営責任者は買収計画に明確に反対、また、ホンダ本社関係者も、「バイグルの提案内容ではチーム救済の抜本解決にはならないと思われる」と話している。
　このため、鈴木代表が出席する６日の記者会見ではトルコＧＰ欠場か、活動停止が発表される可能性が高い。

バルセロナのテストをキャンセルした時から嫌な予感はしましたが、まさか･･･って感じですね。
スペインGPに間に合わせるためには3日以内に何かしらの結論を出さないといけないとか。

さすがに次戦FSWでの3連勝は無理と思うんだけど･･･
